New York City Center
New York City Center is Manhattan’s first performing arts center, founded by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia in 1943 as “the People’s Theater” with a mandate to make the performing arts available to everyone. City Center’s mission today is deeply informed by that founding commitment to accessibility and strives to reach new, young and diverse audiences through affordable ticket pricing and innovative programming. Welcoming close to 300,000 audience members each season, City Center aims to create a welcoming environment and engage audiences with programming that reflects the eclecticism, energy, and spirit of New York City. With a growing roster of self-produced presentations on our mainstage, as well as enriching programs in our studios, the performing arts are thriving at all times in every corner of historic landmark building.
Looking to get more involved? City Center's CLUB 55 is a leadership group for young arts lovers under 40. Members provide direct support for programs aimed at young audiences like Encores! Off-Center and artistic initiatives that support new work like the Choreography Fellowship and Commissioning programs. As a member of CLUB 55 you will receive VIP access to New York City Center’s acclaimed musical theater and dance performances with invites to exclusive, behind-the-scenes events, and member-only presales and ticket offers.
